Dear Saad Bhai,

Cisco has introduced a licensing schema on IOS version 15.X.By default all new Cisco Router and Switches or IOS 15.X requires licensing features for Services to run BGP,MPLS. As now a days this devices are coming with Permanent IPBASE License which is active by default. In order to run BGP,MPLS,VRF features you require Advance IP Services features and on new devices/IOS 15.X this Advance IP Services license is not active by default. You may activate temporary license upto 60 days but after that period you need to Purchase Permanent License for Advance IP Services License to run BGP Services in your Router. Also this license is not for Cisco Device Support/Replacement this is only for the IOS.

I am totally agree with Roman Bhai. You Might run BGP on IOS 12.4(24)T with4 byte AS and you dont need to go for IOS 15.X later.Hope this helps you to understand.

Thanks

I am work for a company in Bogra and we have cisco router 2901. For BGP peering configuration we have a 4 byte new AS number and my ISP in Dhaka saying I need to install a new IOS version 15. I heard from people that new IOS 15 need software license to register to cisco. Anyone use this version without registering to cisco? Is there any big problem if I do not register like IOS 12?
